Laura Arnold
AuD, MNZAS

Hearing loss is prevalent in my family. My mother and my son wear hearing aids. I also wear hearing aids and feel that I am better able to connect with my clients and understand what they are going through because of it.

Hearing loss can be frustrating, embarrassing and isolating. Every client is unique, with their own history, hearing needs and lifestyle. I find it incredibly rewarding to help someone hear the sounds they miss. Humour is also important. I like to get to know my clients, have a laugh and maybe share a cup of coffee.

Laura, who has worked as an audiologist in Taupo for 11 years, said hearing loss affects 10 per cent of the population.
