Emily Spence
MAud, MNZAS

Growing up in Christchurch but having spent the past 11 years in the Wellington region, Emily is excited to have moved back to the mainland. She now lives locally in Motueka with her husband and has three young, wild boys (so has significant experience in people not listening!) On a more serious note, her mother was born profoundly deaf and received a cochlear implant in adulthood, giving Emily a clear understanding of the day-to-day difficulties hearing loss can cause including isolation, fatigue and frustration, as well as the impact on family and friends.

Emily has a passion for getting to know people as individuals, hearing what matters to each person, and providing support through empathy and clear explanations to guide understanding, alongside technological and clinical skills. Across her past 11 years of experience in adult hearing, Emily has managed both small and large audiology clinics in the Wellington region, provided supervision to numerous audiologists, and assisted with a couple of aid trips to Samoa.

Emily completed a Bachelor of Music before gaining a Master of Audiology (with distinction) from the University of Canterbury, and brings extensive experience and expertise to her role as an audiologist.
